The Mint 400
In the spring of 2013, Splinter ventured to the desert outside Las Vegas to photograph the excitement and heartache of the Mint 400.
Boasting 400 miles of off-road racing, the Mint 400 is known as the “Great American Desert Race” by those who attend and participate. There’s something surreal about race photography – catching the fastest of machines in still form.
The desert is such a naturally spectacular setting, you sometimes forget how formidable the desert can be at extremely high speeds through the bush.
Splinter spent three days capturing the emotions of the races: the speed, the adrenaline and the victory.
